It is almost the end of the year and everyone is recounting how the year went. Some made gains and progress, others made losses. But whatever the case maybe, it is another time to stand up and gear forward.
I believe in acknowledging my efforts, whether good or bad and I also believe in working towards making things better.
I have had discussions with people who see no go good in models. I have seen people who feel that the modeling and fashion industry is a mini prostitution hub that has even gone far beyond that. It is seen as an industry that has no business grooming our youths especially the girls.
Sadly, they know what they are talking about. They have had experiences or may have seen people that went down that path. But I always end it by saying “they had a choice”. Person wey wan spoil go spoil.
While they point out their experiences, I also point out mine. I have been in that position where I had to either give myself out or models, but I chose not to. I have seen super models who love and respect their bodies and are very decent. I’m talking about hot super models who are take-home-to-mama girls. Yet, they make their money, they get jobs, they are exposed and are well traveled and they are still very DECENT.
So why will you as a young girl or boy want to sell yourself just to win a car or money? You are just starting your modeling career and haven’t made serious efforts and you want to hit the jackpot once! Car no dey spoil? Money no dey finish? It doesn’t work that way. Talk with top models and you will hear how far they went to make things happen. I am not judging anyone o because everybody get their own comma. But I have always been interested in models because I always and will always tell them that there are other ways. Breaking into the industry might not be easy but with God and your passion and also studying the right strategies, you will get there.
The truth is, once you show desperation, you will be taken advantage of. You want car? No wahala na. Then you are given a condition. You have to crawl before walking, therefore, you have to be patient and let God fix you.
The social media has made things a little bit easy and every model should take advantage of it. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram. I remember I didn’t have time for all these but after seeing first hand results, my dear, I don’t think you should slack either.
To this effect, I will be sharing something I have been working on. It is titled “HOW TO USE INSTAGRAM AS A PORTFOLIO TOOL”. Models, you will love this. It just tells you the things to put in place to get relevant. It changes how you should brand yourself. Instagram is a world on its own and getting attention is a hard work. But with what I will share with you, you will be amazed at the results you will get. When I share and you implement , please be sure to post your testimonies or mail me. I look forward to reading them.
How do you get to participate? It is FREE. Just subscribe to iModelAfrica newsletters and on the 25TH OF DECEMBER 2015, it will be delivered to you. Check your mail every second so you won’t miss out on seeing SANTAMAIL. It is my own little way of sharing this season.
If you have subscribed to our mails before now, not to worry, you will also get it.
If you own a business, you can also apply some of the rules and it will work like magic!
We may have made our mistakes in 2015 but 2016 is a year to start afresh and rock it like never before. God will pick your call this season. Proverbs 16:3 is where he assured us of dreams coming to reality.
I look forward to your success stories.
PS: Modeling isn’t a shitty job. It’s just that there are some shitty people making shitty things happen. It is a fun job that exposes you to people, travels, food, and lots of fun things. That for me is a great way to stay knowledgeable and grow intelligently.
Love and cheers.
